Data Licence
This licence explains how you may use score, match, competition and related data obtained from Pickleball Live API. It forms part of the API Terms. Words such as “you”, “we”, “service” and “account” have the meanings given in those terms.
This licence is designed to let you build useful products while protecting the service from being copied or resold as a substitute data feed.
1. Licence grant
While your account is active and in good standing, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and use API data for the purposes allowed by your plan and this licence.
You may use the data in your own applications, dashboards, alerts, scoreboards, analysis, research and internal systems. Commercial use is allowed on Basic and Pro, provided the data is a useful part of your product rather than the product being a resale or substitute for our API.
The licence applies only to data you obtain through an authorised account. It does not transfer ownership of the service, database, delivery technology, documentation or branding.
2. What every self-service plan allows
Basic and Pro customers may:
- request data through documented REST endpoints within plan limits;
- cache responses on their own server to improve performance and serve their own users;
- display individual scores, match state, schedules, results and related metadata in their own product;
- create charts, calculations, alerts, written reports and other derived analysis;
- combine the data with their own data or other properly licensed sources; and
- use reasonable extracts in customer-facing pages, presentations or research.
You may charge users for your own product. A paid product is not automatically redistribution: the question is whether you have built a distinct product or are simply passing through our raw data.
3. Basic plan
Basic includes REST access and the history window shown on the pricing page. You may cache and use the responses in your own product, including commercial displays and derived analysis.
Basic does not include WebSocket access, raw-feed delivery, bulk exports or the right to supply a live or historical data feed to another person.
4. Pro plan
Pro includes the Basic rights, a longer history window and WebSocket access within the published connection, topic, replay and message limits.
You may use the live stream in your own server-side systems and use it to update your own application. You may not expose our WebSocket directly to your users, forward raw live messages, or operate a downstream stream or API that third parties can use as a substitute for Pickleball Live API.
5. Enterprise use
You need an Enterprise licence before you:
- redistribute or sublicense a raw or substantially complete feed;
- offer API, WebSocket, download or bulk-export access to third parties;
- supply data to a gambling operator or for official settlement;
- retain or use data beyond a restriction expressly stated in your plan or order;
- use materially higher volumes, connections or history than the self-service plans allow; or
- need custom coverage, attribution, service levels or contractual commitments.
Enterprise rights apply only when recorded in a written order form. The order form should identify the permitted products, recipients, data, territory, retention, volumes and any attribution requirements.
6. Uses not allowed
Unless an Enterprise order expressly permits it, you must not:
- resell, sublicense, publish or give away the raw API, live stream or a substantially complete copy of the dataset;
- build a competing or substitute pickleball score feed from systematic extraction of the service;
- provide bulk historical dumps, downloadable datasets or unrestricted data exports;
- allow another organisation to use your account, API key or cached dataset for its own products;
- reconstruct the service through multiple accounts, repeated requests or other quota avoidance;
- remove or conceal timestamps, correction indicators or data-status information where that would make the data materially misleading;
- claim that data is official, guaranteed, endorsed by a competition or suitable for settlement;
- use names, logos, photographs, video or other third-party material unless you have the separate rights required for that material; or
- use the data or service unlawfully or in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
Publicly known facts may not be owned in the same way as creative work. These restrictions still govern your contractual access to our service and do not claim ownership of facts beyond any rights that the law recognises.
7. Caching, storage and derived work
Cache data only for your own permitted use and protect it against unauthorised access. Your plan's history window controls how far back you can retrieve data from the service; it does not require you to delete a score merely because it becomes older than that window unless your plan or order expressly sets a retention limit.
You may keep genuine derived work—such as your own calculations, charts, commentary and aggregate statistics—after your subscription ends. Derived work must not contain enough raw data to recreate a substantial part of our feed or database.
When we issue a correction or mark data as delayed, stale or unavailable, take reasonable steps to update an active customer-facing display. You do not have to recall an old report or archived page where correction is impractical, provided it is not presented as current or guaranteed.
8. Attribution and branding
No public attribution is required on Basic or Pro unless the documentation or an order form says otherwise. You may truthfully identify Pickleball Live API as a data source, but you may not use our branding in a way that suggests partnership, sponsorship or endorsement.
This licence does not grant rights to competition, tour, team, player or sponsor trade marks, logos, photographs, footage or other branding. References needed to identify a match or participant remain subject to applicable law.
9. Ownership and database rights
You own your application, code, interface, commentary and original analysis. We and our licensors retain any copyright, database rights and other rights in the service, documentation, database structure, selection and arrangement, and delivery of data.
Where a source or other rights holder owns particular material, your rights are limited to the rights we are authorised to pass on. We may remove or restrict affected data if an upstream agreement ends or a credible rights claim requires it.
10. Ending the licence
This licence ends when your account or service access ends. You must then stop collecting new data and stop using our API or live stream. You may continue to operate existing permitted displays and derived work using data already lawfully obtained, but you may not turn the retained data into a standalone feed, bulk dataset or new redistribution service.
If access ends because of deliberate extraction, resale or another serious breach, we may require you to stop using and delete affected cached data where reasonably necessary to protect the service or a third-party right.
Sections dealing with restrictions, ownership and previously created derived work continue after the licence ends.
11. Data quality and changes
Scores and match information can be delayed, corrected, incomplete or unavailable. This licence does not add any warranty or service level beyond the API Terms or an Enterprise order.
We may update this licence using the change process in the API Terms. A material change will not retrospectively make a previously permitted use unlawful, but continued collection after the change is governed by the updated licence.
For questions about whether a use is permitted, contact the address on our support page and describe what you plan to build, who will receive the data and whether they can download or query it directly.
